Thank you for a wonderful Founders Day

On April 10, 2025, the Norwin Council of PTAs hosted its annual Founders Day event in celebration of the founding of what would become the National Parent Teacher Association. The PTA traces its roots to February 17, 1897, when Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst came together in Washington, D.C., united by a shared vision to improve the lives and education of America’s children. Their efforts led to the creation of the National Congress of Mothers—a movement that has shaped the educational experience for generations.

For 128 years, parents and educators across the country have built upon that legacy, and Norwin is proud to be part of that tradition. Founders Day not only honors the history of the PTA but also gives us the chance to recognize outstanding contributions in our own community through the Norwin Outstanding Educator Awards. This year, we were proud to honor the following individuals:

We are deeply grateful to these exceptional educators for their dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to going above and beyond in teaching and inspiring Norwin’s children.
